Hit and Run Coverage

Hit and run accidents, occurs when another car hits you, then leaves the scene, and doesn't exchange any information with you or wait for the police. It is highly illegal, and you can get in a lot of trouble for doing it!

If you are involved in a hit & run accident, then you will probably be paying for the bill. As far as making an insurance claim, I believe this would fall under comprehensive coverage, and for that you would have to pay out your deductible before repairs were made to your vehicle.

Remember, sometimes it may be smarter to bite the bullet, and pay for the repairs yourself, and not risk a raise in insurance rates because you filed a claim.

This is one of the major problems in the insurance industry. People are afraid to file claims! People are afraid to use a service that they pay for, because if they make a claim, for damage that is not their fault, their rates will increase, sometimes for years.

So unless you can find the person who committed the hit & run, your insurance will be covering the repairs to your car.
