- Standard Coverage
Standard coverage is the most common type of insurance purchased in New Jersey. This insurance covers a minimum of $15,000 per person and $30,000 per accident of bodily injury liability insurance. This insurance cover injuries and medical costs of other motorists, if you are at fault for an accident. You are also required to have at least $5,000 property damage insurance as well as PIP insurance. You are also required to have uninsured motorist insurance, this covers you when you are involved in an accident with a motorist who does not have insurance.
This is the minimum amount of liability amounts required, but when you purchase the standard coverage policy you can increase these amounts to fully protect you. Remember that if the damages you cause are higher then you liability amount, then you are on the hook for the rest of the damages!
